超吸水纤维是一种吸水能力极强的功能性纤维，超吸水纤维材料是由密度不同的多层非织造材料复合而成的一种含多种纤维、非连续、非均质的多孔体，由于其多孔结构的特征及纤维的特性，使其对液体、气体等具有良好的通透或吸附能力。

①吸水性( moisture-absorption)
超吸水纤维可吸收纤维自身重量几十倍至几百倍的水，吸水速度很快。
The water-absorbent fiber could quickly absorb the water whose weight were much more weigh than the fiber for several ten times or several hundreds times.
②保水性 (water-retention capacity)
众所周知，海绵等高吸水材料吸水后，在一定压力下，水会很快流出，保水性差。而超吸水纤维吸水后迅速膨润、形成一定强度的水凝胶体，即使有一定的压力作用其上，水也不易流出水量为20m1/g。

③呼吸性(吸湿、放湿性) breathing
干的超吸水纤维，在空气中湿度较大时，可吸收空气中的水分，直到与大气湿度相平衡，反之，空气湿度较低，吸饱水的纤维可向环境放湿。

超吸水纤维的应用 (the application of the water-absorbent fiber)
目前国外不仅用100%的超吸水纤维制成非织造布，也有用超吸水纤维与其它天然或合成纤维混合，制成非织造布复合材料，以解决其适用性能及成本问题。在制非织造布时，可用针刺法，热粘法，喷胶法及轧光法等。

①生理卫生用品( physiology health products)
由于超吸水纤维具有良好的吸水性，保水性、吸氨性，因而作为一次性尿布、卫生巾、医用敷料中的高收材料是非常适合的。它不仅可使生理卫生用品保持较快、较高的吸水性，而且可使上述制品做得比含高水粉末的制品更薄、更柔软，无粒状物泄出，减轻湿疹等皮肤病。
Because of the water-absorbent fiber have excellent absorption, water-retention, ammonium-absorbent. So it is very suitable for the disposable diaper, sanitary napkins, and surgical dressing material.
②防止结露用材料( prevent condensation material)
超吸水纤维具有呼吸性(即吸湿放湿性)，可用于包装袋内、室内墙纸、天花板及集装箱内，以防止内部境过湿而产生结露，使袋内、室内的东西不发霉，不变质。
The water-absorbent fiber have excellent breathing, so it was used for inside of packing bag, wall paper, inside of ceiling and inside of the container, in order to pervert the inside of the environment generate the condensation, and prevent the material in the packing bag become mildewed.
